Exhibit: Layers of Life in Death: Yucatan, Mexico

Hello, my name is Roberta Alvarado. A camera has been my sidekick since I was 14 years old. I entered the workforce as an assignment photographer and darkroom tech at 17. Most recently my photography was in the award-winning Paramount Picture "The Big Short".

My eye is for the beauty in simple surroundings and the movement in everyday life with a primary focus on culture throughout the America's.

I am a minimalist traveler and reactive photographer. My current and ongoing project is one of self-discovery and cultural relevance as an exhibit that appreciates Indigenous cultures from North and Central America. I hope to include South America soon. My projects include highlighting Dia de los Muertos and Hanal Pixan.

“Layers of Life in Death" gives insight into the Mayan burial practices through one family's experience. I see great beauty in life's cycle and see it as celebratory. I find value by recognizing its fragility in hopes we may embrace the seemingly mundane tasks with intention while observing our global interconnectedness.

I am available for portrait, event, and assignment photography. All inquiries are welcome. I both sell museum quality prints and license my images. Email:
